I.S.E. Bible Research Seminary recognizes the increasing trend of local church leaders and pastors training and equipping their members within their own church settings. I.S.E. Bible Research Seminary values the independence of local churches and is committed to supporting their efforts to equip their congregation at the local level.

I.S.E. Bible Research Seminary has chosen not to pursue government-recognition. We understand that there is a difference between religious and secular education. Religious educational institutions are not required to obtain secular accreditation because they do not offer secular degrees and do not prepare their students for secular work. We recognize that there is a distinct separation between Church and State and fully support the freedom of Church leaders and religious educational institutions to offer programs that may lead to a Certificate, Diploma or Degree.

The Bible does not explicitly address the modern concept of theology studies or state approval, but it emphasizes the spiritual authority of God’s Word and the autonomy of the Church in teaching and spreading the gospel. A few verses can be interpreted to support the idea that theological education and ministry come from God’s authority rather than human institutions:

Acts 5:29 – “But Peter and the apostles answered, ‘We must obey God rather than men.’”
This verse emphasizes that obedience to God takes precedence over human authority, especially in spiritual matters.

Matthew 28:18-20 – “And Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.’” Jesus commissions His followers to teach and make disciples under His authority, not requiring human or state approval.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 – “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”
This verse emphasizes that Scripture, not external approval, is the ultimate source for teaching and equipping believers.

Romans 13:1-7 teaches submission to governing authorities, but it does not suggest that spiritual education or ministry requires state oversight. Instead, it highlights that God establishes authority for civil order, but spiritual matters remain under His direct governance.

Theological education is rooted in Scripture and the calling of the Holy Spirit. Governments may regulate educational institutions, but the authority to teach God’s Word ultimately comes from God, not the state.

It must be pointed out, however, that individual nations have different laws governing education programs especially if those programs lead to a Certificate or Degree. Each applicant is responsible for all legal compliance in this regard. However, Government-recognized accreditation is not necessary for religious vocations. People working in ministry positions do not need a government-accredited degree.

I.S.E. Bible Research Seminary urges all its members to make sure that they comply with the laws of their State and/or nation.

The Law of God

I.S.E. Bible Research Seminary believes that the Law of God is:
• Eternal
• Spiritual
• God breathed
• Holy

The Law is Eternal
Psalm 119:89
“Your word, O Lord, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens.”

Matthew 5:18
“For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished.”

Isaiah 40:8
“The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.”

The Law is Spiritual
Romans 7:14
“For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am of the flesh, sold under sin.”

Psalm 119:18
“Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of your law.”

(Indicates the spiritual depth of God’s law.)

The Law is God-Breathed
2 Timothy 3:16
“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.”

(Though this refers to Scripture as a whole, it includes God’s law as part of the inspired Word.)

Deuteronomy 4:8
“And what great nation is there, that has statutes and rules so righteous as all this law that I set before you today?”

(This reflects God’s direct authorship of the law.)

The Law is Holy
Romans 7:12
“So the law is holy, and the commandment is holy and righteous and good.”

Psalm 19:7-8
“The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; the precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.”

Obedience to the law of God is not a prerequisite for initial repentance, accepting Jesus as Savior, or being declared righteous. These are acts of grace received through faith (Ephesians 2:8-9). However, obedience to God’s law becomes essential for maintaining continuous righteousness and fostering an intimate relationship with Christ.

This obedience is not legalistic but is driven by love for God, enabled by the Holy Spirit, and reflects a life transformed by grace (John 14:15, Romans 6:1-2). It is through this ongoing obedience that believers grow in sanctification and draw closer to Christ, demonstrating their faith through their actions (James 2:17).
